Industry Movements: Rajat Gandhi has joined Zed Digital

Zed Digital has appointed Rajat Gandhi as head of its full service interactive and digital unit of ZenithOptimedia (a UK based media agency). Prior to joining Zed Digital, Rajat Gandhi was VP in TBSL (Times Business Solutions Limited). Gandhi will report to Pawan Chandra, Managing Director, West & South Zone of ZenithOptimedia.
In 2006, ZenithOptimedia had re-branded its European interactive and digital units on the name of Zed Digital. Zed Digital offers digital services, from interactive performance marketing to mobile. ZenithOptimedia is expecting 15% revenue contribution from Zed Digital in next three years. Vineet Mathur has been appointed as Senior VP of Zed Digital in India.
Rajat Gandhi has joined Times Group in 1995, for four years he has taken care of media sales. After that he has worked as Vineet Jain’s Executive Assistant for around three years. For a short span of time, he worked on IndiaTimes.com and started its own marketing department. Then, his career spread his wings and moved to TBSL as Vice President of following brands -TimesJobs.com, MagicBricks.com, Ads2Book.com, SimplyMarry.com, PeerPower.com and Yolist.com. He was taking care of Product development, Business & Marketing of above brands. He has done MBA in Marketing and Political Science Hons from Delhi University.
On his move from TBSL to Zed Digital, Rajat has an opinion that this is not a big move as in TBSL he was handling the same business as in Zed Digital. He adds that his primary focus will be on client acquisition and providing value to digital function.
Ambika Srivastava, CEO of ZenithOptimedia says that India will be there focus market and they are planning to invest in digital market. Zed Digital will soon launch various new tools which will bring International learning in Indian market. On Gandhi’s appointment, she said that Rajat has vast experience and knowledge of digital space and ZenithOptimedia is looking forward to consolidate their presence in digital space.

Many other players are entering into digital space. Recently, Digitas Inc has been bought by Publicis Groupe SA for about $1.3 billion in cash. Digitas Inc. made digital communications worldwide. Publicis Groupe is expecting to generate 25% of total revenue from digital, interactive and mobile activities by 2010.
